Love and Sexuality in India

Ira Trivedi`s book India in Love is about the social and sexual revolution in India and it`s effect on the culture and people of India. As india is modernizing and developing it is getting and embracing outside influence from western countries and adopting their lifestyles. For Women in India sex is done when you are deeply in love in a committed relationship that will lead to marriage and they have to navigate ideals from both ends of the moral universe the loyal, chaste wife and the adulterous lover. Marriage is the mainstay of Indian culture and India has a spectacular romantic past, but love marriages will never replace arranged marriages.

Ira Trivedi has put up a good thesis of sorts

I picked up this book to get more insight into younger India as I have teenage daughters . Just wanted to know, what I should be prepared for, as normal . Ira Trivedi has put up a good thesis of sorts , covering any and everything related to love . There are chapters on love vs arranged marriage, premarital sex, prostitution, porn , perversions , matrimonials ... the list goes on. She has referred to history and statistics and added interviews of real life characters. Book can not be faulted , except it did not offer anything new to me who lives in India and who reads newspapers. It is written perhaps for non indian readers or NRIs. It is readable though and not boring at all.
