Our Most Favorite Album to Sing in the Car

I bought this book so that I could learn the songs and sing them at various moments in the day. Upon hearing it, I thought it was nice, and I liked most of the tunes, and I began to learn the songs.

At some point I began to play the songs in the car as a way to learn them, and the kids listened along of course. They began singing the songs even when we were in the house, and I was impressed that they learned them so easily, and also that they loved them so much. These days when I ask which album they would rather listen to, most of the time they choose this one.

I find that, when they are listening to this album, they are more calm and centered and happier in general.

What surprised me the most was my husband's reaction to this album. There was a day when he accidentally fell upon one of the songs in my iTunes album, and he fell in LOVE. He raved to me about it later, and was obsessing about it such that I had to play the other songs for him as well--He loved so many of them! He has a background in classical piano playing, but he mostly likes dance music these days. I was totally surprised that he liked them so much, and it is a very happy album for my family to hear when we are in the mood for music.

My new favorite children's songbook

This is a treasure chest of children's songs that relate to the beauty of everyday life. This book takes you from waking in the rosy morning, exploring the wonders of nature, playing and working with friends, to drifting into dreamland.

I appreciate the quality of the selections in this album. You'll find poetry by recognized poets, folk songs with interesting melodies, and songs filled with gratitude. I will be using some of the simple songs with our preschool class. The songs are not overly cutesy or silly like many songs out there for children. They have a simple sophistication to them without being too hard to sing. The lullaby section of this book is outstanding, in my opinion. I would buy this book for the song called "Daisies" alone! "Stefan was a Stable Lad," "Alpine Song," "I Held a Lamb," "Firefly," and "Japanese Rain Song" are a few more of my favorites.

The songbook includes piano accompaniment and guitar chords. The accompaniment printed in the book is much more simple than the arrangements recorded on the CD. I think you could easily add recorder, flute or violin accompaniment to most songs though.

I've really enjoyed learning the songs with the CD. The children's voices make me think of the Von Trapp children. Yes, the "r's" are strong, and the balance between the accompaniment and the vocals could have used a bit of remastering.(Like the companion songbook CD, Sing Through the Seasons, the flute is overpowering sometimes.) Overall I'm very impressed with their tight harmony and the sweet tone of their voices. Good work Bruderhof children's choir!

These songs seem perfect for classrooms as well as daily singing at home. I love this book!

Translator's Introduction I pay homage to all root and lineage lamas! Please grant your blessings to me And to all sentient beings!

Dharma Lord Gampopa (1074-1153 C.E.), the author of THE JEWEL ORNAMENT OF LIBERATION, was fully accomplished in the teachings and practice of Buddhism, the philosophy taught by Shakyamui Buddha circa 560 B.C.E. Gampopa studied the sutra system of training in the Kadampa lineage and obtained tantra training from the great saint Milarepa. Because he himself thus embodied the complete form of Buddhism, Lord Gampopa successfully established complete Buddhism in Tibet. His lineage of disciples pervaded the whole of Jambudvipa and became the crown jewel of all Buddhism.

He completed dispelled the darkness of confusion and reconciled all misunderstanding between the sutra and tantra systems. This is why, among Milarpa's disciples, he was declared to be "like the sun." In reality, it was as if the Buddha himself had manifested again in human form. Therefore, Gampopa's teachings are recognized asbeing wholly pure and precious.

Of the many important texts he wrote, THE JEWEL ORNAMENT OF LIBERATION is probably the most significant. Gampopa said, "For anyone who wishes to see me, studying THE JEWEL ORNAMENT OF LIBERATION and the PRECIOUS GARLAND OF THE EXCELLENT PATH is the same as meeting me." So, THE JEWEL ORNAMENT OF LIBERATION acts as Gampopa's regent in these times. In this book, you will find a complete form of Buddhism -- right from the starting point, the ground where you enter into the path, until you achieve Buddhahood and manifest activities for the benefit of infinite sentient beings.

Best Beardie Book Yet!

l am a beginning bearded dragon owner and have a 2 y/o bearded dragon called Bella. This manual tells you the correct terrarium lighting, how to hold a bearded dragon, and all possible ways to figure out the answer to that question that kids and adults alike ask after purchasing the lizard... Is my bearded dragon a BOY or a Girl??, on MALES every thing is wider then FEMALES. What things do l look for?, you may ask. Look at the Cloaca, also known as the Vent, the head, and the femoral glands. This manual also includes a mating, and reproduction section. l still don't agree with the idea of giving beardies lettuce, l really think, due to low nutrition values, that it is absolutely not necessary. To my ultimate displeasure, it doesn't include a list of toxic foods, DON'T GIVE CITRUS TO YOUR BEARDED DRAGON, EVER!

Excellent Sax Jazz Improv Training

This is the best book I've come across regarding improvisation in jazz bebop. And I have practiced through other bebop improv books. This book gives you a blueprint to workout your improvisations with easy to learn blueprint. But I first need to tell you that it would be advisable to have a good knowledge of jazz music theory. For that get Mark Levine's book on Jazz Music Theory(highly recommended). If you already know jazz music theory then by all means get this book. I consider myself advanced but have had problems fully understanding the bebop scales. I've been relying on getting away with playing some bebop licks when I improvise. This book opens up ideas of how to make your own bebop lines or 'licks'. Study this book. I guarantee you won't regret it.

McPherran contends that Socrates saw his religious commitments as integral to his philosophical mission of moral examination and, in turn, used the rationally derived convictions underlying that mission to reshape the religious conventions of his time. As a result, Socrates made important contributions to the rational reformation of Greek religion, contributions that incited and informed the theology of his brilliant pupil, Plato.

From the prospective of an undergrad this is definitely a new way of looking a Socrates. I'm not sure I agree or am qualified to disagree with a lot of what is said but it is very different from my preconceptions on the subject. Contra the party line about Socrates and what he stood for, McPherran presents evidence for an extra-rational Socrates. Understandably this tweaks those who hold S to be the champion of reason and self doubt in the face of mysticism (me, before this book). What was of most value to me was that McPherran shows how this is not really an either or proposition. The Socrates of this book cannot be simply placed on one side or the other of the religion v. reason debate. Good reading for anyone that is interested in the life of Socrates.

Another good one with a big BUT

the whole India thing was fixed way too fast! India totally hates Lee and can't figure out how Cassidy and Drake can forgive him for what he did in the first book but after a couple of times talking to him and a couple of kisses, she does a 180 and is head over heels?? Not to mention that with her history of being raped, am I really supposed to believe she would just jump into bed with a man she's hated for couple years after a couple of kisses and a couple days thinking he's not as bad as she thought because he was a shoulder to cry on?? I liked Lee and India but I'm not big on those huge age differences in couples and I just thought the author rushed through getting Indie and Lee together sexually. It would have worked much better had he had to go a little at a time to get her comfortable. I don't think the author was true to how a rape victim would respond to sex especially if she lost her virginity as a result of rape. I also don't like how all 3 of the guys in this series use the term "baby" with the women. The author was lazy with this and using other phrases for all of them. I also didn't like how you really don't know how much time has passed, ages of people other than Indie, etc. I wanted to see how it ended but it wasn't a favorite.

Cheryl has done it again

Just got done reading Forbidden and it's simply amazing just like everything thing else that Cheryl Douglas has written! I have read everything that she has written and released so far. I can't pick a favorite book because they are all so good! She makes sure you get your smiles your laughter and your tears all in one!!! Keep up the great work!

Great Addition to Series

Forbidden is Book #3 in the Music City Moguls Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone but you may get more of the back story if you read Stone Cold (Book 1) and Envious (Book2) first. This is Lee Elliott and Indie Eaton’s story. Lee and Indie both have issues. Their past addictions and traumas have shaped their thoughts and emotions. Indie is judging Lee by his past and has a real animosity toward him. Lee is working to overcome his past and build his relationship with his brother. This was a well written book. You could almost feel the struggle that Lee makes daily to over-come what he has done in the past. You also feel for Indie, when you learn about her past. This is not your typical romance and does deal with some series topics and situations that could happen to anyone. Would recommend this read.
